Youths, ex-soldiers, others declare total war on Boko Haram

No fewer than 10, 000 youth volunteers, retired military personnel, vigilante and local hunters yesterday declared total war on Boko Haram, saying: “Enough is enough”. The youth volunteers who besieged the palace of Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Umar Garba Al-Amin El-Kanemi, demanding the support and blessing of the royal father, said they  have resolved to enter Sambisa Forest, the insurgents’ famous camp and other hideouts to hunt for the terrorists. State Coordinator of Civilian JTF, Mallam Abba Aji Kalli, said they were at the palace to seek his blessings and fatherly advice, as the group was determined to go after the insurgents. “We may not have heavy guns like them (Boko Haram), but we are optimistic that with our sticks and other locally- made arms, we will raid all terrorists hideouts and rout them out if given the permission by the Federal Government.
Kalli said the Civilian JTF is now motivated, adding that the group received support and assurance from many retired military personnel, local hunters and other patriotic citizens who have also expressed their willingness to join the group to end the evil being perpetrated by Boko Haram daily. They expressed dismay over what they described as the Federal Government’s refusal to support them even after sacrificing their lives in the counter-inusurgency operation. Some of them who spoke to journalists said they have declared total war against Boko Haram. The Shehu urged the youth volunteers to be law-abiding while fighting the terrorists.
