Sounding the note of warning, Onuakalusi recalled that the sect,
which had since been declared a terror organization because of the havoc it
wreaked on innocent people of the country, was now talking of taking over some
parts of northern Nigeria as its own territory. His words: The sovereignty of
the Nigerian Nation can neither be negotiated with a terrorist group that has
no regard for sanctity of human life nor entrust to rascals who neither have
respect nor regard for life. Nobody should expect a compromise of an inch of
the territorial integrity of the nation. Blaming Muslim leaders and their
politicians for not playing their role as respected faithful, the regent said:
“Sadly, let us examine this unfortunate scenario in three different fronts,
firstly it is an indictment on the leadership and ideological failure in the
Muslim world especially in Nigeria. Often times we are being told that Islam is
a religion of peace, but a group of the same adherent takes gun without any
provocation, to kill and slaughter their prospective converts in the name of
the same religion and their leaders turn blind eyes and remain indifferent in
the face of cruelty. He recalled that the Catholic Pontiff, His Holiness, Pope
Francis 1, recently apologized to the entire world for the abuses carried out
by Catholic priests, adding
